Does anyone else feel like that? I live in the north east of england & not once have I seen a single parent they r all married. Gets a bit depressing after a while

Agreed. Me too. I live in London, and appear to be the only single parent at dd's nursery. It definitely can be depressing to see all the marrieds/families (especially at weekends), and end up thinking "what happened that I'm in this different situation to everyone else I see?" Usually I'm absolutely OK about it, but once in a while it does bother me.

Of course, I feel concerned for dd and her emotional welfare. I always tell her that there are many different kinds of families - some have a mum and dad, some have only a mum, some have only a dad, some have two mummies/two daddies....but think that sometime soon the penny will drop that we are the only "different" family in her immediate circle. Fervently hope that dd feels OK about it once she realises.....

my kids go to the small village school (i work in village) & i AM the only lone parent. i am also the only parent who does not have ££££££ and two family cars & a nanny etc. It does get me down sometimes especially when im stood waiting to pick the kids up. But i often notice how horrible & spoilt their kids r & realise that i should b lucky 4 what i have, not what i havent got.

Have you had a look at the Lone Parents board? You might find you're not quite so alone as you think you are!
