This is just a vent really but id appreciate hearing from anyone else who has been in a similar situation..
My daughter (15 months) was hospitalised 6 weeks ago with what her blood infection markers (CRP I think it is) showed to be a major infection but they could never find the source despite tonnes of tests. She had IV antibiotics for a week and bounced back really well when we got home.
We thought it was just a fluke but last week the same thing happened...major fever, very high heart rate, CRP through the roof and seeming to respond to IV antibiotics again...but again they couldn’t find the cause. The doctors said the way her CRP was indicated it wasn’t a virus or milder infection like tonsillitis it was more on par with sepsis. She’s now totally fine now that we’re home so seems to make a full recovery in between these episodes.
We’re now waiting on a referral to the paediatrician who may refer to immunology they said. I just feel like a nervous wreck, I’m anxious person anyway but I’m so scared she’s got something really wrong with her and she gets very very ill really quickly during these episodes it’s scary. She has no other symptoms at all! Just high fever and high heart rate (200bpm taken while sleeping) and 40 degree fevers.
Does anyone have any experience with immune system problems or just generally how you keep your sanity with a poorly child? I can’t sleep for worrying about her and found out I’m pregnant at the same time so feel like my heads going to explode this week!
