Until i became a mum 1 year ago, I never realised how annoying people talking to me through my child could be. I find it rude. Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?
Here are some examples of people talking to my baby..
"Nana will see you this weekend"
First off I've seen you every single day for the past week. second.. you didn't ask me so no you won't be seeing us.
"That looks yummy, what are you haveing" then you will get the stare as they wait for a response.
"I have time off work in ... we can do .... together"
"Will you be popping in and visiting me whilst I'm in work?"
My child doesn't understand, your just trying to put me on the spot. Talking as if its happening withoit asking me means it isn't. Oh I just hate it and it makes me feel so awkward 😒 I think its so rude. I'm right next you!!!!!!

Maybe they're trying to teach your DC social skills or form a relationship with them? It used to mortify me as mine wouldn't answer them back for years. I thought she was a selective mute but no, she's just not a people pleaser it turns out.

This doesn't bother me at all. Its quite hard to have a one way conversation with a child who gives nothing back so this is just the way people do it. It's good for social skills and bonding. I don't think people are trying to put you on the spot, they're just trying to interact with your child by saying anything they can think of.

I do this with all my pets but not as sensibly

Are they trying to teach kids to be disrespectful to their parents when parents tell them otherwise?
