Hi all

My baby is 9 months old she currently still has 4 bottles of 7 ounces and drinks then all but she is also have breakfast lunch and dinner. Does this sound normal? I thought she would have dropped more by now, I don't want to drop them if she still needs/wants them. I was also reading that it's best to switch to cows milk from a year old, what's the best way to do this? Sippy cup? Normal cup? Bottle? I'm just thinking she's drinking so much formula still will she of stopped by then or do I need to give her all this cows milk too? Sorry for all the questions it's abit of a minefield and my health visitor has been basically non existent and no help during this whole pandemic! Any advice will be really appreciated! Thankyou

My LO is 10.5 months old and still breast feeds 6-7 times a day alongside 3 meals and 2 snacks 😂

I’m trying to introduce cows milk a little at a time as I have to go back to work soon. At the moment I put it in a sippy cup with his afternoon snack. Hope to increase that over the next few weeks so no breast milk during the day. He can’t be trusted with an open cup currently and he refuses bottles

DS went down from 6-2 bottles from 9-12 months so once he started dropping them it was fairly rapid! I just gave him a sippy cup of cow's milk in the morning when he turned one, he still had bottles at bedtime until the formula ran out a month later and then that went to a sippy cup. We had a bit of resistance for a few days but he loves milk too much to refuse!

My 9 month old still breastfeeds the same amount as he did at 6 months. I just assume they need it if they are still taking it

I think 3 months is a long time between 9-12 months for them to develop so no rush.

Also, the who recommends babies are breastfed until 2 year ideally, which to me reads the same as ‘ all babies whether on formula, cows milk or breast would ideally have until 2’. I don’t really see the rush to have to stop bottles at 12 months if they like them and find it comfort, you can decrease the amount and at a time more suitable a few months later if you think they need it still.

@CupcakesK haha oh wow!! That's funny! I was starting to think she was eating/drinking too much but maybe not! That's a good idea tho introducing it with a snack I may give that a go Thankyou 😊

@Potterythrowdown oh that's good then I think sippy cup may be the first thing we try the milk in then seems the way to go! Thankyou 😊

@Caspianberg haha yeah we must have hungry babies! Good to know my little girl isn't the only one. Yeah still got some time and she could start dropping them on her own accord I guess Thankyou 😊
