Best baby slings for breastfeeding newborns!

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a sling or baby carrier that you found particularly good for making it easy to breastfeed a newborn whilst on the go? I've used slings before that I love, but as yet haven't actually manage to feed whilst the baby is in it!

I've fed in a connecta, not sure what they rebranded as? I'm quite small chested and wear a breastfeeding T-shirt and drop cup bra.

With DS I had to let it the side straps out so it sat down more as when little he would be too high.

With DD I tried not to feed in the carrier initially, as I didn't want her to get in the habit, but sometimes it was needed. I generally just put up the hood and it covers you. I think it sort of depends on your height and the baby's size.

Thank you for your reply. I've actually already got a connecta, so that's good to know! I've never tried feeding in it before though.

Interested in this too! As expecting DC2 next year.

I would say just don’t get an ergo baby (think it was 360). Didn’t work well for us with DD. They’re so bulky and uncomfortable!

@Shmithecat2, did you have to loosen the straps in a close caboo? Or just change the position of baby?

I just used to get my boob and and move it toward baby's mouth, I don't recall having ti loosen anything. You can't change the position too much as you'd have to move baby's legs, and if you're going to do that, you might as well just take them out of the sling iyswim.

@Shmithecat2, thank you! I've used a close caboo before, but my baby's head was too high up, under my chin! I guess I could start out by adjusting the fit so that baby sits a little lower down.

I love the ergo 360 - I used it for 18 months with DC1 but never managed to feed in it. However have just had DC2 and managed to feed her in it from necessity. We have a close caboo too but I prefer the structure of the ergo.

I used a close caboo initially and then moved onto a rose and rebellion.

Somethingsnappy · 03/12/2020 17:21

Thank you both!

I’ve not done it but the Ergo Embrace advertises itself as breastfeeding friendly. Instructions say to loosen the straps and feed sitting down though, don’t know if you were in imaging walking around feeding.
