My 8½ month old baby had last pooped on Monday. And today is Saturday morning. That's around 5 days without bowel movement and he's even eating external pureed foods now.
How can I help my baby poop.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Have you tried massaging his tummy and cycling his legs? You could also give him a bath to relax his muscles. And try some fruit e.g. prune purée.

Does he seem in pain or generally happy? I think it's quite common for this to happen when they go into solids although 5 days is a bit long so I understand why you're starting to worry.

5 days is a very long time. You need to take him to a doctor.

My DS (6 months) went through a short phase of only pooping every four days. He then reverted back to his usual once every other day a few weeks later. I wonder if I should have taken him to the doctor Confused

Tummy massage, bicycle legs, "p" foods - prunes and peaches are good, a satsuma/tangerine used to help too, plenty of water. If FF a bottle of ready made can help as well I found.

That’s a long time
I would seek medical advice I think just to be on the safe side

If baby is breastfed then it isn't a problem, if baby isn't in discomfort.

Breadtfed babies can go up to 7-10 days without pooping.

OP here.
Baby pooped shortly after I posted this .
Others would hv taken him to the paediatrician

It would only be OK for an exclusive breast feed baby but this baby is now on food.

That’s a long time and I think you need to contact a medical professional now.

@Thatwentbadly but the baby pooped after this post. Strange but true
