Is it dangerous to let a 7month old balance on their legs?

My little girl is 7 months, I saw a family member stand her up only holding her hands as she wobbled and struggled to stay up. I said "omg" the same moment her legs gave way and she fell. Me, my partner and all my family do this but support her under her bum or under her arms to let her bounce and kick around, weve never let her hold her entire body weight. This is my first baby so I have no idea if its dangerous or not, does it put pressure on her knees and bones or is it a good way to develop blance and muscle?

Our 3 month old DD does this all the time. Never had anyone say it's unsafe. Obviously we don't do it for long periods of time but a minute here or there.

Be guided by your baby's reactions - some are strong enough to enjoy it at that age, others don't feel happy or enjoy it. My second took his first steps at 7 months and walked everywhere holding hands but my eldest just wasn't bothered

Mine is 7m also and pulls himself up to stand. Can’t see how it would damage them, they need to build up the strength to walk eventually

We do this all the time with my 7 month old and he’s now trying to get himself up too.

Depends on the baby, my oldest wasnt even crawling at 7m and definitely wouldn't have liked that. My youngest was pulling up to stand at 7m and walking on her own by 9m so she would have been fine. You know your baby best

At 7 months DD1 had been pulling herself up to standing and cruising furniture for nearly a month. It's fine if she's voluntarily standing and as you said she'll sit long before any damage is done

My 4 month old is happiest when she's standing. Finds it hilarious.

I really wouldn't worry
