Take heart if you battle young children on vegetables

I remember wheedling 'just try a tiny taste', hiding veg in Annabel Karmel sauces and despairing of my dc paltry vegetable intake.

Now they are both vegetarian, and come home from their weekend jobs with a sourdough loaf desiring homemade soup or making it themselves. They practically live on avocado toast and carrot batons with homemade houmous.

And my now 17 non reading 8 year old with a visual perceptual deficit has a serious genetics and psychology book habit and is loving A Levels.

Keep at it! (Disclaimer I know non NT kids or kids with sensory difficulties or ARFID will have additional challenges). I just wanted to take a moment to remember how life changes 😊.

Ahh that's reassuring after the veg was unceremoniously picked out of tea by toddler. I look forward to those kind of days Grin

My toddler is currently existing on a diet of raisins and ready brek, so this is music to my ears.

Their taste receptors are so sensitive at that age 🙂

And evolutionary adaptations seem to have toddlers convinced that we are trying to poisen them with any novel food...

I might just bookmark this thread for when I'm having a moment of panic at my children's vegophobia. Thanks OP!

Grin actually op thanks , I needed to hear that today to remind me. Ds1 ironically with extra needs is fine with vegetables (its texture that causes him an issue on other foods) ds2 however is NT and my God the current battle over vegetables. Sometimes it's good to be reminded this too shall pass after I was told Friday they were looking forward to going to exdh because the food was better (due to disappearance of any vegetable form and its replacement of coco pops and pot noodles !!)

I really needed to hear this! Thank you OP Wine

DD has barely eaten anything but pasta and chicken dippers all week and baby DS screams and pretends to choke any time a vegetable comes near him.
