The gro egg is red so it’s quite hot
I can’t work out what to put on the baby she’s wearing a short sleeved short legged all in one bit it’s a bit big so to elbows and knees will this be enough she has a cotton blanket too if needed ?

My baby is 5 months and I still struggle with this. I unplugged my gro egg as it is red nearly every day. I got some swaddles and sleeping bags in different togs and they come with great guides as to what babies should wear underneath.

Tonight mines in a long sleeved body vest and a 1 tog sleeping bag. I'm under a thick duvet so technically another layer than him when it should be the other way around but his back feels hot to touch so that's what il go by.

Make sure you touch baby's back or chest to gauge temperature not their head/hands.

I found the advice 'one more layer than you' really helpful. And I also think people are more likely to overdress their baby than under. So what are you wearing to sleep? Me, just pants but I'm likely to pull the covers over later. So perhaps baby needs a short sleeved vest (just as you suggested) now, but when you put down after a feed in the early hours, will also want a cellular blanket or sheet or sheet weight grobag. Or perhaps not if you still feel you want nothing. If your house is a bit cooler than mine, perhaps the extra layer now and another one later. If sleeping or feeding on you might need less (you can undo or remove vest whilst feeding if you feel it's right.)

You are doing a great job 😊

Our Groegg is reading 23.6 (orange) and my 11 week-old baby girl is in a nappy and short-sleeved romper (no vest underneath). When our egg has been red it's just been a short-sleeved vest. We bedshare so I'm mindful also that we're sharing body heat too.
And it seems counterintuitive but on really hot days a s/s vest is better than just a nappy as it helps with temperature regulation.
Congrats on your new baby 😊

@Crimblecrumble1990 love your username! Shalom!

@littleBabyagain hope you had a good night! I know it can feel like you have to get it all just right, but soon more and more of it will be automatic. And with so many things, like what they should be wearing, there isn’t one perfect answer and everything else is a disaster, you just have to get it in the right ballpark and your baby will be fine.
