10 month old self weaning from breast, which milk to give?

My 10 month old DS has been exclusively BF and started solids at 6 months. He eats really well and eats pretty much anything I give him. I usually offer a boob feed mid morning and then again mid afternoon but the last month or so now he just rejects these. He has a breastfeed at bedtime and again first thing in the morning but that's it now.

I'm worried re his iron levels, someone told me they needed to have much more milk that this at this age to ensure adequate iron? I don't really want to start formula now. Should I be giving cow's milk as a drink - I know it's too early but I'm not sure whether he needs anything else? If not, what sort of snacks do people give babies this age if necessary - I'm really fed up of giving him rice cakes but if he has something a bit healthier eg fruit he makes such a mess everywhere it's almost like a full on mealtime which I'm not sure I can cope with 6 times a day!

Thanks for any tips :-)

They get more iron from food than milk as you get closer to age 1 and they take more solids. Cows milk is actually fairly low in iron. If they are breastfed or taking less than 500mls of formula then they are supposed to take a supplement of Vitamins A, C and D.

If you are still breastfeeding a couple of times a day then the odd drink of cows milk wouldn't hurt. Add dairy products to make up for lack of milk feeds. Feed iron rich foods

At 10m old if he's still breastfed twice a day, that's more than enough enough. At 10m we were only doing a morning and bedtime bf, then occasionally we would do a mid morning / mid afternoon feed depending on where we were and whether I'd brought a snack 🤣 weaning is the process of replacing milk with food and if he's a good eater he's getting what he needs from food. I really wouldn't worry.

If you're concerned, there's plenty of vitamins available. We give DS a daily dose of wellbaby, but abidec and others all do the same thing. It just ensures they're getting enough iron / vitamin D etc.

the vitamins recommended for babies are generally A, C and D rather than iron which they can get more easily from food

My 10 month old only feeds morning and night and eats well.
He's my 3rd and the other 2 did the same and both fine. Just offer snacks at the old milk time.
