What time do you go to bed? And do you feel well rested enough?

I go to bed at 12 and I don’t feel rested. I stay up late to give myself the illusion of having a life outside of my kids Grin

HogDogKetchup · 15/07/2020 08:56

My DS gets up between 4.15 and 6.30 each day. Usually it’s 5.30.

If I’ve had a couple of days on the trot of a 4 on the clock I might go to bed at 8, occasionally 730. That’s been possible largely owing to lockdown and not commuting etc.

Tbh I think 6-6.30 is perfectly reasonable. I used to need to get up at 5am pre children.

Spied · 15/07/2020 08:57

DC 10 still wakes 630ish and insists on waking me ( I hear anyway as I'm a v.light sleeper).
It's exhausting and tbh feel quite unwell ( headaches, stressed and moody) most of the time!.

I always tell myself that I will go to bed early but when the time comes I decide that I don't want to waste the precious me time so I stay awake and remain in a constant level of exhaustion. Grin

If you have a DP and it's possible, take turns to sleep extra in the morning to catch up.

Spied · 15/07/2020 08:58

Go to bed bout 11. Any earlier I find I can't drop off ( too wired)

Normally we are in bed by 10.30 and asleep by 10.45 although she has got better over the last two weeks and not woken up until 7am which has felt like bliss. Smile

BertieBotts · 15/07/2020 09:00

About 11. We tend to have naps though!

Temple29 · 15/07/2020 09:01

DS wakes around 6:30 every morning. DH and I usually aim to be in bed around 10 and chat for a while before drifting off. I am exhausted all day if I sleep any later than 11 and it’s not worth it

Quackersandcheese3 · 15/07/2020 09:02

My friend and her kids are up 6/6.30 . Kids in bed for 7 , she goes around 9/9.30.

popples19 · 15/07/2020 09:03

9.30pm and 10pm.

It used to be around 9pm but I've tried to stay up slightly later which hasn't made me any more tired.

AnneBullen · 15/07/2020 09:03

Lights off by 12 seems to be OK. I do nap at the weekend though.

We also have a grow clock which lights up at 7 and when DS comes down we have a cuddle then he has to go back bed until “morning”. Or he can play quietly. It’s normally only 20 minutes or so until it’s 7 but it helps to
not have to get up straight away!

Pantheon · 15/07/2020 09:25

I tend to go to sleep around 10.30 and that's fine. My dd used to get up even earlier so anything after 6 is OK by me!

GloriousTechnicolour · 15/07/2020 09:28

Most days I can't sleep before 12/1am and DD is up between 5 and 6. I'm shattered Brew

Tamtam86 · 15/07/2020 09:58

My children get up at 5am pretty much every morning, I usually try to be asleep by 10.30pm. I'm shattered tbh. I think I'd probably be ok if they slept until 6/6.30 but I'm yet to experience that so who knows!

BakewellGin1 · 15/07/2020 10:02

We are up any time from 4.30 to 6.30 lately..

During the week (while we have less sports with older DS) I go anywhere from 8.30 to 10 even if its just to relax rather then sleep.

In more normal times its at least 10pm

Abouttimemum · 15/07/2020 10:29

DS wakes anywhere between 6-7 although occasionally earlier if he hasn’t napped well the day before. We don’t get him out of his cot until 6.30 though. That’s my cut off 🤣
We aim to be in bed for 10, go up about 9.30.
DS goes to bed at 6.30pm though so we get a good chunk of an evening.

Pre working from home and DS I used to go to bed after 11 and get up at 5.30 so I really should feel better nowadays.
I don’t though. I presume that’s the magic of kids.

AnnaSW1 · 15/07/2020 10:31

Ha ha we do what @IamPickleRick does

Ihaveoflate · 15/07/2020 10:37

I aim for bed at 10 and lights out 10:30. If I'm not working, I also have a short nap after lunch when DD goes down.

mindutopia · 15/07/2020 10:58

Mine doesn't wake up at that time all the time anymore. But for the many years they did (and earlier - 5am!), I went to bed as normal, usually around 10ish. Except on the weekends it can be 11-11:30. Normally we work in the evenings, so it's hard to go to bed any earlier, unless one of us is ill. And Friday and Saturdays are the only times we really see much of each other, so we try to stay up a bit later then. Yes, I generally do feel rested enough. For many years, I've also woken up between 5:20-5:40am for work (6:20 train - I'd leave the house several days a week before anyone was awake). So actually 6:30 is a bit of a lie in really. Blush

Intastellaburst · 15/07/2020 16:29

My baby feeds every two-three hours at night and often wakes for the day at 5am. She’s been doing this since she was born six months ago. You will be shocked to hear that I don’t feel well rested!

With my older child we have managed to get him to stay in his room after he wakes up with the use of a gro clock set to come on at 7am. He’s been using this since he was two.

RedCatBlueCat · 15/07/2020 16:38

When it was 5.34 like clockwork, I was in bed by 9.30, lights off by 10.
Now it's (finally, hes 11 years old) drifted to 6.20, I'm usually asleep by 11. I havnt had to get up with him for years, but let's just say an elephant tap dancing wouid be quieter than him trying to be quiet going to the bathroom and switching on his light!

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/07/2020 16:40

My youngest gets up at 5.30am. I go to bed at 11, as my oldest goes to bed at 8.30 and I need at least a couple of child free hours.

Musicaltheatremum · 15/07/2020 16:47

My children have left home and my alarm goes off at 5.50 am. 6.30 is for weekends 😂😂. We try to have light off by 10. My partner is asleep by 10.01 takes me until about 11.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 15/07/2020 17:43

DD 3yrs old wakes c 6/6.39 (sometimes 5.45), i go to bed anywhere between 10-12pm- no I never feel rested! I’m not going to bed at 9 though, I like my evening, and rest without sleeping.
