Hello all,

Advice please :)

I’m 31 weeks pregnant with our first child. I was wondering if people could give me some advice please.

My husband will be out the house for 12 hours a day as he has a long commute. He is worrying that he isn’t going to get much time with the baby at all. I am too but I’m trying to reassure him as we are a team and are both providing for our family in different ways :).

I am going to be doing all night feeds so he can sleep but I was wondering people’s routines in this situation? How can Daddy be more involved when he is around?

Hope I’ve been clear :). Thanks xx

When I had my baby my husband was usually doing 12-14 hour days (leaving before 6am most days, home 7/8 on average). It was manageable but the days could feel quite long. My husband helped in the evenings and for a while would do one evening bottle feed (I did all night feeds due to his long commute/work day). He also spent a lot of time on weekends with the baby. For a while his ‘thing’ on the weekends was taking baby for walks so I could rest, or playing quietly with him.
It changes quickly and you’ll find your own routines and ways of doing things as a family.
