This may sound crazy but did my 3 month old just say hello?

Okay this may sound far fetched but i swear my little one copied me saying hello. I said it and she did it back, two syllables with a clear h, l and o. She usually babbles very loud but when she said this, it seemed diffetent like she was trying to get it out and if you read her lips youd read hello. She was studying me very hard before she said it too.

I caught it on camera and my mum pointed it out, i never wouldve noticed her saying it just because its unbelievable and it never crossed my mind.

Is this too far fetched? Do you think it was chance that a small babble sounded like the word i said and im missreading it

Yes it's too far fetched.

Therollockingrogue · 20/05/2020 15:55

No it’s true . Babies say stuff, even at 3 months Smile

landoflostcontent · 20/05/2020 15:55

Yes, I am sure she did. Can remember doing this with the children and grandchildren and watching people freak out Grin I think they are making baby, burbling noises, watching your face intently and move their lips like yours and out comes Hello. Can still see people's astonished faces...

Definitely possible.
DS1 was saying mama from about 3.5 months and "hiya".
DS2 is 7 months now and been saying hello and hiya for a few months. He waves as he says it now and it sounds exactly the same to what he's been saying for the last few months.

I really want to believe it because its clear as day, even if you didnt know what word she was copying youd know straight away it was hello listening to it. I would uploud the video but id have no clue how to edit it to make it just the voice, my pc broke all i have is a phone.

Babies can do all sorts of unexpected things.

When my daughter was born her eyes were brown like mine, and she would watch me move around the room. The doctors and nurses said it wasn’t possible because babies couldn’t focus on someone several feet away,

Until one doctor walked in and said “good god, look at that baby watching you as you move around the room, she’s not supposed to be Able to do that”

So yup I’d believe she was trying to copy you.

Algae is the word my (then) four month old said the most

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 20/05/2020 16:20

She probably did say it by copying you. Its just sound at this stage - I doubt theres any meaning attached to it

SWEAR my 5mo has said mummy about 3-4 times now.
