Do you send you dc to school of they have a cold???

Title says it all really. Ds2 first proper afternoon at nursery today and he has got up with runny nose and coughing. He hasnt said he doesnt want to go but has told me he doesnt feel well.

Shall I send him in (its only for 2 hours) or keep him at home and send him in tomorrow??? I really dont know what to do for the best.

If they say they feel unwell, then I dont, but if they say they are ok and have no tempature then I send them in.

Bad coughs, or lots of green snot, looking bleary eyed or of course a temp I keep them off. Clear snot, normal eyes and appetite, they go.

If they are ok and have n't got a temperature, constantly needs nose wiping and is coughing then they go

I would suggest calpol and then send him in, i'm sure if he gets worse, nursery would call you.

If I kept mine off every time they had a cold, they'd barely be educated...

If they're really miserable with it or haven't slept well the night before I keep them off. If they have a temperature, have been sick or had diahhroea, or have a mystery rash I keep them off.

Otherwise they go in to collect more germs

not allowed to send them into school if they have been given calpol, incase they have a reaction to it or it makes the tired.

Just dont want nursery to think i'm some psycho mum that wont let her child go to school.

Only ever kept dcs off with high temperature, chickenpox or when they were clearly too unwell to do anything other than lie in bed.

Our school requests that you don't keep them off with colds.

Depends how bad, streaming nose, sore throat, headachey kind of cold I will keep them off but sniffles and slight cough, they go to school.

he seems fine now, hasnt sneezed since about 8am and tells me he feels better so think he will be going,

ds is off pre-school today with a coldy/flu type thing.

NOrmally I wouldn't keep him off for a cold, but it is affecting his asthma, he hasn't slept properly and he's also got sore throat, lack of appetite, bit of a temperature and is very clingy oh and a bit of a dodgy tummy.

If it was just snuffly nose, I wouldn't bother keeping him off.

If they are well enough to get up and play happily, they go to school.

if they are well otherwise I send them in dosed up on calpol and nurofen. In winter children always have colds. The schools would be empty for at least 3 months otherwise

on saying that I've just noticed yours at nursery - I wouldn't be bothered about attendence at pre-school.

have to keep ds2 off as little girl in his class fighting luekemia and just too big a risk to her.

Mine is only off if it is D&V or she can't stand really - she looooooooooves school and there is too much sobbing to keep her off
