Hi all, i have a 6 year old girl who is very sweet and behaved. My problem is getting her to sleep on her own,for now i have to stay in her room on a chair until she falls asleep. sometimes it could take 60 minutes. i have moved the chair closer to the door each night, but no use. She cries and roars if i leave her on her own , she gets all worked up. once shes asleep she is great. Hands up, its my fault, i have done this since she was a toddler, she never had a doodie or bottle to settle, only me smile

please any help appreciated, i have neighbours i have to take into consideration, she has a calm lead up to bedtime, book and cuddle etc

thanks

You have my sympathy OP. Our DD was reluctant to go to sleep for a long time and kept shouting fir us to go back. Some things that helped were making sure she did plenty of exercise in the day. I know you can’t go out much but things like the Joe Wicks work out or Just Dance might help.

Make sure she has enough to eat. Our DD is very fussy which didn’t help. There’s a list of foods which help sleep here. Don’t know if that will be of much use Smile

When she does go to bed, have you tried reading to her until she does fall asleep? I found the Faraway Tree series good at this age.

If you don’t fancy that, could you play her some meditation on YouTube aimed at children?

Try a sticker chart where your chair moves farther every night and after 5 nights she gets something she wants. Maybe buy her a cuddly toy or two. A nightlight as well. Or just cold turkey it, and apologise to the neighbours for a few days?
