Sat up with 10 week old with blocked nose - give her calpol?

Hi

I’m sat holding her upright as when she’s laid down in the cot next to me the mucus fills her nose and she’s getting distressed breathing. This is going to go on all night I think!!

Would you give her calpol to soothe her? I have given her some saline nasal spray, which hasn’t helped so far. No temp.

Thanks x

Calpol plug ins, saline spray/drops, nose Frida to suck snot out, steam, snufflebabe rub. I always have these to hand for colds.

Calpol is only liquid paracetamol-it will do bugger all for a cold unless there is a temperature.

Calpol plug ins are an absolute god send!
Although they are very strong, my neighbour asked what we were using as she could smell it next door (but it helped her sleep too though).

Thanks everyone. I’ve hammered the saline spray today. She’s too young for the plug in unfortunately but I’ll be buying one bang on 3 months. What will tonight bring 🤦‍♀️ Wish me luck!

OP, I'm a big fan of Calpol when the kids are poorly. I think of it akin to me having a lemsip before bed when I've got a cold. It always feels worse when you lie down to go to sleep, and just because they can't tell you, it doesn't mean they don't feel crappy. Paracetamol helps you to nod off, and a good night's sleep helps.

Have you tried propping the cot up on some books to let the mucus drain out a bit?

Also: Humidifier with Vicks inserts. Nasal spray up to 6 times a day + snotsucker. Vicks baby rub on chest and back.
