The mess of motherhood

Anyone else fed up with the mess/stuff/constant cycle of new things at home? I have a 2 year old and 4 year old. Generally I’m a bit of a minimalist but since having kids I feel like there’s so much stuff you need, new toys (birthdays/Christmas), everything gets used so much - pulled out, thrown around. I never manage to keep on top of it. I go to friends houses for play dates and everything seems to be where it should be/nicely arranged whereas I find it impossible to keep all the parts for anything together so it just ends up as a big jumble. I try not to have too much stuff but it just accumulates again. Please don’t say rotate toys. I can’t figure out how anyone has time to do that! I’d just like some quick tip ideas or to hear anyone else’s thoughts on this side of motherhood. Does it get better? From a mental health point of view it often really stresses me out.

Decent storage is my only suggestion. Enough of it with adequate separation for different types of toys. Always stressful trying to cram stuff in to too small boxes or drawers. I organise toys by type. This phase will pass!
