I am concerned about a research report I was told about that discovered that oral bacteria thrive in chewing gum spat out onto the streets. I've found a Daily Telegraph article that reports Prof Kaoru Kumada of Tsukuba Intl University found 10,000,000 bacteria in every gram of discarded chewing gum. If children (or anyone) walk on these horrid patches of chewed gum, then wear their shoes in the house - does this increase the risk of multiple infections for young children?
