Car seats + 3rd adult on car back seat

Expecting my second baby in a few months and thinking about car seats. We fly to visit my parents and when we visit, my son goes in a Joie 360 spin in my mum's Mondeo saloon. Thinking of getting a Joie i-Gemm for the new baby, but will it be possible to fit a third person in between the two seats? It won't be for really long journeys (max 45 mins say) but it might make things tricky if a third person can't fit!

Anyone have any experience of this?

I don't know about those specific seats and car, but we've found it is virtually impossible to get a third person between two car seats, especially when one of them is a baby seat, unless you've got a proper people carrier.

You could put one car seat in the front though, and then may be able to squish two adults in the back, depending on the size of the car, the adults, and the car seats.

Currently, two adults can fit next to the 360 spin. Not majorly comfortably, but they can fit there Grin

Is an infant in the front seat safe? (with air bags off, of course)

It's possible with 2 rear facing seats if the person between is quite narrow hipped. I fit, DH doesn't. Mondeo and Legacy with 2 way elite and a britax I size infant carrier. Yet to try with a FF seat but suspect shoulder room might be problematic

There is a sweet spot when one child is forward facing, and one rear facing when hips and shoulders can be twisted to fit. 2 rear facing or 2 high back boosters is very tight for an adult.

Front seat, airbags off, 2 adults in the back is probably the best bet.

I'm not familiar with those particular seats and never had a Mondeo, but I used to sit in the back, in the middle when our dc were little. DH couldn't though, so, it does depend somewhat on the size and flexibility of the adult Grin

Thanks! Front seat for baby might be best bet then.

I've got my fingers crossed too that the new baby likes the car more than my son did as a baby. There were a lot of journeys with him crying!
