Baby hot to touch but no temperature after 8 week injections

Hi, my baby boy had his 8 week immunisations today, I have him calpol at the doctors immediately after and let him sleep on me until he woke up four hours later, he was inconsolable so have him the second dose and he went down to sleep for five hours. He's woken up and isn't crying, he's only had 2 oz of milk (normally has 5) and feels really hot to touch. I've taken his temperature with a digital thermometer and it reads 37.4 on his forehead, I've just read it's more accurate under his armpit but I don't have a suitable thermometer for this, I'm on my own and I don't want to take him out to buy one right now, the nearest 24/7 shop is over half an hour away. Is it normal that he feels hot but isn't really showing a temperature or should I go get a better thermometer/take him to hospital?

Also, what should I dress him in? I normally swaddle him but I don't want him to overheat

Where I am the nurse recommended three calpol does after the 8 week injections, so you could give another?

The vaccinations can be a bit worrying for a first time mum, it sounds like you’re being super attentive and caring.
Im not medically trained, far from it, but if your son is not crying he sounds fine. Bit of calpol and do what you usually do.

Take comfort that the 12 week ones will be a doddle.

Yeah I've given him the third dose, letting hi. Sleep on me and waiting for him to cool down a bit before I put him down but I don't want him to overheat, is it safe to swaddle with a fever?

I wouldn't swaddle with a temp. Skin to skin will help regulate his temperature ( might make you feel sweaty though). Strip him down to vest/nappy otherwise to help him cool down.

I am still traumatized by my DD reaction to her first vaccinations, we both ended up in tears after an hour of non stop crying! Totally agree that the next lot are a doddle x

It's awful isn't it, I think I've cried more than him! I'm glad to hear the next lot are easier! He's cooled down now and just had a 5oz bottle so think he must be feeling better, thank you!

The nurse that did ours told me to give 3 Calpols regardless, a fourth if needed and if my baby was still unwell/ had a temp after that, to seek medical attention x
