I just put white noise on my phone. Works a treat.

Crystal87 · 18/11/2019 23:30

Followimg, interested in this, anyone any experience of baby who didn't respond to other white noise but Ewan works? Have a white noise machine but that doesn't seem yo work for my DD.

It’s a great idea and quite cute. But it’s not loud enough. We use a white noise app on our phones and to get over the screaming it needs to be quite loud unfortunately. I have kept ours though as it may become part of bedtime at some point and it’s a nice teddy if nothing else !

But I’d save your money and get an app!

Mynameiscalypso - gro company do make a penguin I think as well as Ollie the owl. Are you sure yours isn’t in fact a penguin?!

Soubriquet · 19/11/2019 12:32

Yes!

I loved that little sheep.

Mind you, we used white noise from a very early age so when he transitioned to a cot and we couldn’t use what we was using, Ewan fitted that gap perfectly.

We had the light turned off but the sound on and it worked every night

LillyBugg · 19/11/2019 12:49

I think it's total luck. My youngest took quite well to it and my oldest got jealous so I ended up getting another for him at 4 years old. They both now love them. One had to be replaced due to a vomit incident. That wasn't a fun day. Also the newer ones have a slightly different music on the music setting so if I ever have to replace again it'll be a nightmare since that's his favourite setting!

PeacefulInTheDeep · 19/11/2019 12:50

My DS never took any notice of poor Ewan. He works wonders for me if I'm having a nap though! I put the rain sound on and if I'm not asleep by the time it turns off then a nap is not going to happen.

Icanflyhigh · 19/11/2019 12:51

Yes!! Was a godsend for me with DS 7 years ago!

2beautifulbabs · 19/11/2019 13:05

My DD loves him

Lunafortheloveogod · 19/11/2019 13:12

Ds liked him for the first few weeks.. maybe it was the red light if that’s what they see in the womb? Who knows. It works fantastically on DP so much so we stopped using it or he’d have been in bed from 8 too Grin.

Ds now 7months does like to play with him but he doesn’t put it on himself or anything. For sleep he prefers shhhing, there’s an app that’ll do it for me for an hour and it’s free. I’d try a white noise app first incase dc hates it, he’s not a cheap sheep.

mrsed1987 · 19/11/2019 13:29

Didnt work for my son

MindMyOwnB · 19/11/2019 16:31

No he's not loud enough and goes off too quickly. I'd just use a white noise app on a phone or laptop.

blueskiesbrighteyes · 19/11/2019 16:41

It worked for us! There's a free app called White Noise Deep Sleep Sounds that is great too as it's 8hrs rather than 20 minutes, so might be worth trying first

User0987613 · 19/11/2019 16:41

Bennie the Bear is amazing!! I've never gone through AA batteries so quickly in my life :P

thunderthighsohwoe · 19/11/2019 18:50

MyHummy worked better for us as the initial noise is for an hour and the sensor lasts 12 hours. Plus you can control it from your phone! I tend to turn the sound up when I’m emptying the dishwasher etc so the crashing doesn’t wake her.

It’s the thing that calms her down for sleep; she knows that noise on = sleep and settles well. She’s nearly 12m, and we’ve been using the MyHummy since 3 weeks.

GrumpyHoonMain · 20/11/2019 16:48

It needs to be used from day one otherwise might not work.

CAG12 · 21/11/2019 11:52

This is the impression im getting!

Someone from here actually gave us the tip to use pink noise instead of white, and it really does work much better for us. We have set up the Google mini near her cot, ask it to play pink noise, works for us and no changing batteries.

Abouttimemum · 21/11/2019 12:50

I faffed on for ages with my baby with all sorts of toys/mobiles/white noise etc until I realised he likes to be in the pitch black with zero noise. Still the same at 8 months. Hates anything like poor Ewan.
