Car seats: kiddy Guardianfix vs cybex Pallas

Hi, we've decided to buy a car seat for our 2yo that has an impact shield rather than straps because he can easily escape the straps however tight we make them, and the shields have good safety results.

We're looking at the Kiddy Guardianfix 3 and the Cybex Pallas M Fix, but struggling to decide which is better. The small price differential doesn't bother us.

Does anyone have any experiences with either to help guide us?

Thank you!

Ive got the pallas. Its a good seat. Heavy until the base comes off so if youre constantly moving it between cars it might be an issue. We always had cybex though so ive never tried anything else Smile

Didn't think Kiddy made seats any more as far as I know.

But from what I've read, impact shields really aren't safe

Thanks for your replies.

I have seen those concerns about impact shields that were raised back in 2013 but there seems to have been further testing since then and the shields do seem to still be deemed safe. AFAIC if my child has his arms half out of straps on a normal seat then a shield must be safer?

Kiddy are still making seats I believe? Shops are still selling them anyhow!

The shield won't ever secure their shoulders so I don't think that's really the point.

Are you totally sure you have adjusted the straps correctly.

For me, RF, for as long as possible is far more important

Yes I would prefer rear facing but unfortunately we can't fit two rear facing seats in our car.

We pull the straps as tight as we possibly can each time but they still seem to sit poorly on his shoulders / easy for him to push down his arms. He is quite slight.

We have looked at other seats with straps that are narrower on the shoulders but none of them seem much better.

Thanks for the Cybex vote @Piffyonarockbun . Interested to hear if anyone has the Kiddy one!
