Standing, cruising 6.5 month old - what do I put on her feet?

Hello ladies! I wonder if you have any ideas. All DD wants to do is move. This week she's started pulling herself to standing on anything she can grab and trying to cruise. The problem is, she'll often crawl into a solid surface first and, if she's only wearing socks, she can slip and fall.

All of the soft shoes, onesie with grips on the feet, etc, seem to be from 9 months. In fact the very same range seems to remove the grips at 6-9 and under. (And when they're too big, they make her more unsteady on her feet.) Can anyone point me in the direction of something that might actually fit her?

The little suede-soled leather slippers are good, ‘inch blue’ are a brand I can think of but I think jojo maman Bebe do similar ones

NannyR · 26/10/2019 10:11

These soft leather shoes start at 0-6 months. If she's indoors, I would just have her barefoot though.

ChaosMoon · 26/10/2019 10:17

Those inch blue ones are so cute!
I worry that the 0-6 are too tight on her (they seem to be on other styles I've tried). If JoJo do similar, I'll have to pop in and try them on.

Thank you!

Just bare feet - best way to be Smile

Nothing. It's much better for babies learning to walk to have bare feet. Literally bare feet. If you're worried about her feet getting cold, buy some socks with non-slip dots on the soles. You can also get "mocc ons" which are slipper sock type things:

If worried about chilly toes in the house I used to put socks with the little grippy spots on the bottom so they didn't slip in the cold months. But barefoot is best if your house is warm.

Hopefully this link should work!

You can get socks with little plastic grips on the bottom- look on Amazon.

My baby was up and moving early and she didn't get shoes until she was toddling outside, that's the recommendation.

Primark do grippy socks, I have been using them since she was teeny. Cheap and cheerful but actually last quite well!

Inthemoment38 · 26/10/2019 12:05

Sainsbury's and John Lewis have the socks with rubbery spots on the bottom. My dd lives in these for months while cruising.

Imicola · 26/10/2019 15:44

I bought socks in morrisons recently with sticky pads on the soles. Also bare feet, and inch blue here.

ChaosMoon · 26/10/2019 19:47

That's such an interesting article @doodleschmoodle. I knew some of that but not all.

I do have her in bare feet at home, but I can't stay in all day. Or really for more than a few hours before it starts to get to me... And with the weather getting worse, I really just want something to keep her feet warm and dry without being a trip hazard when they keep coming off.

(My ideal world be a waterproof onesie with grippy feet so she could crawl through puddles in the park. I think she'd love that.)

H&M waterproof booties, an absolute bargain and they do the job.

GrumpyHoonMain · 26/10/2019 19:53

Look for East Asian baby brands - you can often find things suitable for 6 month olds there as it’s not as unusual for kids to start cruising then.

Waterproof onesie (I think the smaller sizes may come with fold over feet and mitts, but check):
