my 9mo vomits when food goes in his mouth

First post on here as I am trying to find some advice - my 9mo used to love his solids but has started to vomit as soon as food goes in his mouth. Noting too spectacular, just vomiting as much as is in his stomach. He is not upset about it, or ill in any way. The pediatrician said just to keep an eye on it as he has no other symptoms. He is happily eating yogurt. Has any one else experienced this? I was reading about sensitive gag relfex? any advice most welcome

Hello

Are you spoon feeding him or letting him feed himself? If spoon feeding I would try taking a step back and letting him take control. You can start with soft, safe things like soup, scrambled egg etc. if you are nervous.

My DC both went through super-sensitive gag reflex phases, usually after a sickness bug or due to teething, coughs and colds etc. I think once they've been sick they then are much more likely to for a while. But it's messy and quite stressful!

Thanks @BlackInk, I do a mix of spoon feeding (just to make sure something goes in) and letting him feed himself which he loves, if somewhat unsuccessful at getting much in the correct place! But that is a good idea to leave it more up to him so I will try that. Thinking about it he only vomits when he is spoon fed. He is with a nanny during the day as I am at work and it is with her that he has the most problems, and she mostly spoon feeds him.

He has also been teething. You wouldn't know it as he hasn't made a fuss but this could well be a symptom of that. Very helpful to hear your experience, thanks!
