Have noticed my nearly 4 year old boys just don't do it. Am an ex primary teacher so don't want to stifle their creativity & teach them how to draw the perfect face etc. Just want to encorage them to enjoy art and drawing, doodling etc.

This summer we have bought a few rolls f cheap lining paper from B&Q. It's great fun. You can make life sized pictures of your child by drawing round him, and then getting him to fill inthe details to make a copy of himself.

I used to do that when teaching Ourselves and it was amazing how accurate they'd be when drawing their insides in the right place-heart, stomach, blood, bones etc. They were only 5.

MilaMae - That sounds a fab idea; will add that to the list of things to do on these rainy holiday days. Bet DD would love it!

All fab ideas on here that I will be using this summer a couple of things to add.....

Buy an etch a sketch & aquadraw for times when they want to draw but you don't have time to clear up the mess, especially good for younger children though my 8yr old plays with them still aswell!!
