Had to go for my 6 week postnatal check-up today - it's about a 25 minute walk and I wanted to go to town too.
DS2 (3 3/4yrs) was desperate to wear the Wellies he's found in the DS's bedroom - they're actually a size too big for him but he wanted to splash in puddles - and we've never managed to get out for him to do that. So he put them on and off we went.
He was quite happy all the way to the Dr.s jumping in puddles and laughing all the way, had my appointment, everything fine and dandy (except for DS3 being extremely stubborn and refusing to open his eyes.........until the Dr. had his back turned/was checking something else - and then promptly shut them as soon as he tried to look at them.......that'll be my stubborn streak then ).
Set off towards town (which is sort of "on the way" home). And DS3 started complaing his foot hurt and hobbling a bit, he didn't seem too bothered by it so I just jollied him along (he's quite an 'actor' when he's in the slightest bit of discomfort/tiniest upset so I just tend to ignore him - if it's important he usually bawls his head off ). Got to town and he was hobbling more and more and getting slower and slower.........
SO I decided to have a check of his boots..and it was then I discovered that, yes he was wearing 2 red Wellies.......but they were both right Wellies and one was about 3 sizes too small and are the ones that go on the Paddington Bear in their room.. By this time we were running late to pick DS1 up from school so I didn't even have time to try and pick up a cheap pair of shoes that did fit him so he had to hobble all the way back home before being relieved.
I can't help wondering how many people noticed that he had 2 right Wellies on, and that one was about 4 sizes smaller than the other
