my parents have just bought a second house up at the top of the South Island (NZ - we all live in Christchurch)

it has a great bad taste spa pool with a floating bar
and they're putting in a swimming pool at my request. and a cool wet room. it has 5 acres with loads of fruit trees and they own part of a hill or something. there are still some random sheep and chickens kicking around because the previous owners haven't come back to get the yet or something.

it's totally impractical for 2 70 somethings but they love it and are doing all kinds of crazy stuff to it.

they have a new convertible BMW 3 series too

and they always have a 'booze fridge' in every house they own - very commendable

When my mother (70) visits her sister (74) and brother in law (75) in their remote house in South Africa, apparently she doesn't bother to take a swimming costume as all three of them skinny dip in the pool. "We're way past worrying Darling and BIL is way way past getting excited." was her only response when I admitted I was a little surprised.

my mum (having the time of her life in her 60's) is totally over excited about having botox with me in a couple of weeks and is telling anyone who will listen including her boss/physio/make-up girls in clarins.

She tells me they all say 'no youre not, ohh good for you i'd love to have some'

I love my mum she seems to get younger as she gets older

MrsJohnCusack · 02/07/2007 11:37

oh yes my 70 year old mother is on MSN
she's not totally with it though. she reduced me and my sister to hysterics by saying in astounded Lady Bracknell tones 'do you text

she asked ue to get her some dope a few years ago as she thought it was all wrong that she'd never tried it. We refused and luckily she seems to have forgotten about it...
