What does baby wear to go swimming?

Im going to start going swimming with my 6 month old so got her some swim nappies, a swim nappy cover which is like a pair of swimming knickers, and then a neoprene baby wetsuit thing, it's sleeveless legless suit that looks really easy to take on and off and the purpose of which is meant to keep her warmer in the pool.
But my husband said surely she needs something between that and her skin, ie a swimsuit?
Totally confused - what do you put on your baby to go swimming?

Happy nappy and a neoprene wrap for ds no swim suit required. But can’t see why you can’t also use a swimsuit if you want too. (I wouldn’t as it’s another thing to buy/wash and get baby in and out of)

Just the neoprene suit is fine. They're meant to be a bathing suit.

What you’ve got is fine.

Have a hoody towel or dressing gown too, to pop on her as soon as you get out.

We just use a disposable swim nappy and swim shorts on top with a built in nappy but - so two nappies. He is pretty regular so I also only take him in after he has done his poo.
