Viral pox-like crusty spots on baby- can I prevent scarring?

Evening all. My 9mo DD has a viral rash (thought chicken pox at first but GP says not, some other virus with rash). We are treating with calpol, virasoothe gel, piriton for the itch. She's feeling better.

The spots on her face are now really crusty and look almost like cold sores. I'm not worried about it being serious but if possible I'd like to reduce the scarring to her beautiful face. I've cut her nails. Any suggestions?
Thanks all.

Our DS us just getting over chicken pox ( or so the pharmacist diagnosed hope she was bloody right now )and we put socks on his hands going to bed to try and prevent knocking the heads off his spots. We did use little mittens but he just took them off easily so we moved to big socks and pulled them up his arms 🙄🙄

Sounds similar to what dd had at the same age.

We used plenty of moisturiser, that was it. No marks after 1 month. They were mega crusty too.

Thanks both

@bourbonbiccy Even if your dc hasn't got c pox and it's a viral rash like mine has got, the advice is exactly the same and it's not serious so don't worry! The only thing is, you can't give baby ibuprofen for c pox but you can for viral rash so you can alternate ibuprofen with calpol if needed. Hope your dc gets well soon x

Thanks @halfwitpicker that's reassuring!
