Is it ok to take a baby to the cinema?

Is it ever ok? Want to take ds1 to see a U rated kids movie. We could do the earliest showing, so probably around 11:30 am. I would be surprised if there were adults without small children at that time.

Ds2 is 5 months and bottle refusing, so can't leave him with a babysitter.

Call the cinema and ask?

there are usually kids sessions for £2 showing slightly older releases. they're fine, but if you're paying a tenner a ticket it's not ok to bring a baby.

Our cinema does a special mother and baby/toddler showing on weekday mornings, maybe yours does?

I am talking about a normal showing. Our local cinema has a baby showing once a week, but it is always for films aimed at older people. This week is fantastic beasts, so not something I would take the 3 year old to. There don't seem to be and kids showings.

I was more asking whether everyone else would be hating me than whether cinema would outright refuse entry.

The cinema would let you in but the problem you’d have is if the baby became upset you wouldn’t be able to just leave as your other child would then be upset and wouldn’t understand why they had to go.
I don’t think I’d be overly impressed with a crying baby during a film I’d paid to see if I’m being honest

The cinema is an expensive treat so I would be annoyed if someone’s baby cried through the whole thing.

He's only 3, he doesn't need to go to the cinema to watch a movie if it stresses you out. Worst case scenario is baby will kick off, you'll piss off everyone else there who has paid to see a film and you'll have to leave with a disappointed 3 year old and carting an upset baby with you. Best case it all works out and you haven't wasted all that money.

Yes, they would hate you if your baby cried. It’s an occasional expensive treat for a lot of people.

As you can't leave baby with a babysitter, what about bringing the babysitter with you. That way if baby cries you can go out of the cinema and babysitter can stay with sitter and watch rest of film?

I did it, but always with dh aswell in case baby cried. I wouldn't have on my own

I wouldn't because DD is a crier. I have been to the special screenings that they have for parents/carers of under1s for the last 3 weeks, she's nearly 5 months old. The first time she was a dream (out of character!), the second time generally fine apart from some normal whinginess, today she was stressful as hell and cried on and off throughout most of the film, it was grim. There is no way in hell I'd take her to a proper screening because people would be well pissed off if she acted like that and anyway it's so stressful for me too. But maybe if your baby is a dream and never cries then it would be ok?

Unless you can somehow gaurantee your baby won’t make a noise (unlikely) then I wouldn’t.
I would be very unimpressed if I’d spent the best part of £30 (tickets and snacks) to take my child to the cinema and a baby was crying during the film and I’m normally someone who would take a baby most places
