2.1 yr old - Please tell me he isn't dropping his nap!

My 2.1 year old DS has always been a good sleeper (a bloody nightmare baby...truly horrific... but a great sleeper and now pretty reasonable toddler!) and has been in a solid routine since 6mo re: daytime naps. Since he was 1 he has taken a 2hr nap after lunch. He is a bit particular, and generally only naps well in a cot/travel cot with us but he has managed to nap on the matress things at nursery amazingly (much to our surprise!).

For the past 2 weeks he has not napped at nursery at all, though they do get him to lie down for quiet time at least or sit and read a book. At home, his nap has reduced to about an hour and I noticed its been taking him a good 45mins to drop off (despite us making it an hour later and shortening it). If he hasn't napped at nursery he can sometimes have a grumpy hour before tea time, but is often fine. He still goes to bed at 7:30 and drops off immediately - if he's napped its more like 8pm.

For those who've been thru this before..Is he dropping his nap or is this just a phase? Wondering whether to keep cracking on with putting him in his cot etc. or just see how he goes without it. I'll miss my hour or so of peace (he's my only DC) but it will make life a bit more flexible as we won't need to be home for naptime anymore.

Thanks!

He's dropping his nap. Both mine dropped theirs before 2.

If you keep putting him down it will eventually affect his sleeping at night.

Start putting him for some quiet time with a book as they do at nursery. He'll be in pre-school before you know it anyway!
