What to buy a toddler who isn't into toys

Hi,

It's my son's 2nd birthday coming up and aside from few pieces of clothing I can't think of what to buy him.

He hasnt seeemed interested in toys we've bought previously. Instead he'd rather fiddle with cardboard boxes or chuck his books around the room.

I want to get him something but am at a loss for ideas.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

A tricycle or balance bike?

More books? You can never have too many books.

A collection of loose parts he can play with? Look on Pinterest for ideas.

Or a fiddle board. You can make one on a wall or surface by just attaching various things from hardware stores that he can play with: a castor wheel, a bolt, a door chain, a door knocker, things like that. Again look on Pinterest for ideas.

Blackboard and chalk. My toddler’s favourite thing!

Should be hitting role play age soon? A toy kitchen... or just a book and save the "birthday money" for when he is interested

I'd just get him a balance bike and take him for a nice day out.

If you're at all interested in crafting I recommend the makes for mini folk book by Lisa stickley - there are a few bits that are easy to do (a cardboard shop front, a photo booth thing and props, hobby horse etc) all look impressive and are easy. And he'll be able to use it when he gets into role play/imagination play stuff.

If not then I second a balance bike or a scooter/scuttle bug.

Season ticket to the farm or zoo local to you (for you as he’d be free but he’ll benefit) which could also be part of Xmas present.
