3 year old daughter complaining of burning sensation when weeing

My daughter has recently started nursery and is anxious weeing and therefore having a lot of wee accidents despite being toilet trained. She is also trying to hold it in until I collect her. She is now saying it burns and is hot when she wee’s. I have called the pharmacist for advice but he seemed to think seeing as it has only started this afternoon to give it a couple of days to see what happens. I feel uncomfortable with this as I know when I have had cystitis and urine infections in the past getting to it quickly has helped. I just wondered if anyone had any tips. He said to get her to drink cranberry juice...I don’t think that will happen unfortunately. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Withholding urine can cause a UTI.

I’d ignore the pharmacist and get her to the GP with a urine sample. I would absolutely not “watch and wait” with a child so young.

In the mean time just get her to drink plenty of water.. Cranberry isn't proven to do anything. Hope it gets sorted for her soon!

Agree with above, she to little to wait. I'd take her to see a GP asap.

Thank you for the above advice. I have a urine sample pot from the last time she had one so I will try and collect that and get a go appointment.

Definitely take her to the doctor. My DD has a urine infection a few weeks back, was misdiagnosed and the infection ended up going into her right kidney. She was in agony with it. I wouldn’t leave it with your daughter being so young
