My wee one is 20 weeks and has been in hers for about 8 weeks.I have a buggy that the tilt adjusts in 3 positions so I still dont let her fully up but she definately gets a nosey at whats going on around her in the first two positions.I know what you mean about the bored look!I felt guilty at first as though I was doing something wrong but I think you know your own baby and what they are capable of.
I still keep the lie flat part of the set handy for long days out and about so she can crash out all comfy

anotherangel2 · 08/09/2018 07:19

Well before then as she was very long. She has Lay flat push chair but when awake I often had it on a tilt and it did wonders for her reflux

MoHunter · 08/09/2018 07:29

DS1 = 5 months because he was by then too long for his carrycot, DS2 closer to 6 months as he wasn’t as tall.
The recommendation is to leave them flat until 6 months I believe.

About 4 months. DD was craning her neck/doing sit ups lying flat on her back and had had enough. What buggy do you have? We have a bugaboo cameleon and it has a lie-flat position in the seat but is still elevated in the head if that makes sense so add wasn't completely flat and could see out of the buggy. Then moved her up to the higher sitting position around 5.5-6m

Giantsquid · 08/09/2018 07:40

Mine was upright from day 1 due to reflux. Had to use the car seat attachment

scrivette · 08/09/2018 07:46

DD sits up in the carrycot bit now at 9 months, she was pulling herself up at 6 months to look around.

LoniceraJaponica · 08/09/2018 07:47

About 8 months I think.

CocoDeMoll · 08/09/2018 07:51

Thanks for the answers. He’s in a weird bulky pram I was given second hand and it doesn’t turn into a buggy. I’ve got dds old buggy which he looks tiny and vulnerable in as it’s more like a push chair.

He just loves seeing what’s going on but the pram looks safer and comfier.

I like the idea of him sitting in the Cot pram. Didn’t think of that!!

5 months here, DD was looking squashed in the carrycot

happymummy12345 · 08/09/2018 07:55

6 months, as recommended by silver cross

PasstheStarmix · 08/09/2018 07:55

About 5 months and he was so much more content when he could see out better.

YerAuntFanny · 08/09/2018 07:56

I preferred to use a lay flat, parent facing seat than the carrycot from birth (I was paranoid about the lack of proper straps) but I used the next lowest recline so it was slightly elevated from 3/4 months when they were awake.

PasstheStarmix · 08/09/2018 07:56

He wouldn’t fit in carrycot anymore either.

Bobbiepin · 08/09/2018 08:01

4 months, when her head and toes touched the ends of the carry cot. She's always been above average height/length.

CocoDeMoll · 08/09/2018 08:02

Blimey there’s some long baby’s out there! Ds is a short ass Grin

14 weeks due to reflux and cmpa making him very uncomfortable lying down. He also loves a good nosy at the world.

0lgaDaPolga · 08/09/2018 13:16

About 3.5 months. He was very long and outgrew it quickly. Our pram seat reclined flat though so it was ok

arbrighton · 08/09/2018 14:31

4 months, over the weight for the carry cot. Reclined pretty flat though

dinodiva · 09/09/2018 06:10

About 2 months. Tall baby! I have an uppababy and have got a newborn insert for the chair part so no issue with moving him so early.

WooYa · 09/09/2018 06:14

About 3 months because he had no space at the sides and only and inch or two at the bottom

IWouldLikeToKnow · 09/09/2018 06:21

One of the reasons I bought my icandy was the large carry cot so I could get the full 6 months out of it. However, my son turned out to be tiny so sizewise, would probably have lasted closer to the year. He had other ideas and at about 4.5-5 months started going crazy when I put him in the Pram so we switched to the buggy seat at that stage

Dermymc · 09/09/2018 06:28

😂 😂 At the lack of straps, I don't know many newborns who could leap from a carrycot!

About 5 months here. When he spent most of the time sat up in the carrycot I gave in!

YerAuntFanny · 09/09/2018 09:11

@Dermymc, funnily enough anxiety isn't always logical!

Although seeing a pram tip on a kerb and a baby almost face plant the road when I was younger probably didn't help... Absolutely nothing to do with "newborns leaping out" 🤔
