20 month old stopped sleeping since new baby arrived!

My 20 month old has always been a terrible sleeper and doesn’t sleep through the night despite multiple attempts at sleep training and trying everything! A few weeks ago he was doing well though and only waking once or twice, having a little water and was patted back to sleep.

I had a new baby a week ago and since then he’s been terrible! Worse than the newborn. Last night:

7.30 - fell asleep
9.30 - woke screaming
11.30-12.45 awake and struggling to settle back to sleep
4.30 - brief wake
5.45 - awake for the day and wouldn’t go back to sleep.

My husband has been staying with him but is only getting 2-3h sleep and can’t sustain that going back to work next week with a long commute and long days! I think he’s teething as well which isn’t helping. I feel really guilty as I’m staying in the room downstairs with the newborn and getting 4-5 hours sleep so not too bad!

I know it’s probably a phase/adjustment reaction to new baby/teething but what can I do?! I need it to pass quickly!

He self settles at night in his cot after milk bottle and patting/shushing. I’ve been having to do this with newborn in bouncer in the room at the same time to get him used to it. If he wakes at night he is only offered water and usually settles himself back down quickly.
