Should I give DC10 a duplicate of his babyhood snugly? He still has/adores the original

DS had a favourite cuddly toy as a baby and it's still his favourite now. I bought a replacement incase it ever got lost and recently found it.

Should I gift it to him? Or will that shatter the magic of the original? Also I worry DS will be sad that the secondary toy has sat alone in the cupboard for a decade. But then I reckon he'd like to 'rescue' him and give him a better 'life' (DS is quite sensitive)

I'm really unsure here!

Do it!

To be honest, I wouldn’t give it to him. I had (still have) a favourite cuddly but a duplicate wouldn’t have meant anything to me at that age.

Also, we got a duplicate of my DD which she found when she was 2. She was ecstatic for a couple of days but she soon discarded the spare one whereas the original is still very much loved at age 6 (and yes, she can tell the difference)

I would either give the spare to the charity shop or tell DS about it and ask if he wanted to keep it or to donate it to a child in need.

Keep it, then one day if you have grandchildren give it to DS then.

Yep as Flavia said, would be so lovely to give to his first kid

I did this to my then 11 year old. I found a duplicate on eBay and thought it would be funny to buy.
She laughed then got completely hysterical sobbing.
I think it was the shock of how different they look.
She's never forgiven me. It's now in a box in my wardrobe and when I say ' oh we could give it to so and so' she gets really upset.
Infact she saw it a few days ago in its box and asked why I'd still kept it.
So in my experience I'd say save it!

Ah flavia's idea is lovely. I wouldn't give it to him, I don't think there's any point.
