Yes/no? I can’t decide whether this is okay or not and googling it confuses me even more.

It's fine - the amount that actually gets into your blood and therefore your milk with one glass would be classed as below 'non alcoholic ' Wine

It's fine. I was told that if you drink it whilst actually feeding then by the time it is time to feed again it's not in your system anymore (assuming if baby feeds about every 3-4 hours). No idea if it's true but as long as your not getting rat arsed it'll be fine.

Thank you. Definitely don’t plan on getting ratted! I just fancy a glass

A very minimal amount gets into your milk and it peaks an hour after you drink it.

MyBreadIsEggy · 15/07/2018 18:20

The lactation consultant I saw explained it as a large glass of wine being the same as dropping a shot of vodka into an Olympic swimming pool.
General rule, if your’esober enough to hold your baby safely, you’re fine to feed.
No need to pump and dump Smile

Enjoy Wine

Should be ok. DD responded to what I had eaten I'm sure though. She loved curry flavour milk and hated asparagus flavour. Or am I imagining things!

Grandmaswagsbag · 15/07/2018 18:22

If you drank enough to be dead your milk would still be labelled non alcoholic if it was bottled. It’s the same as your blood content. I have no idea why they still tell people you can only have one drink whilst b/feeding.

I'm so glad the drinking and breastfeeding debate has shifted to the side of reason and evidence. Only a few years ago you'd get mostly hysterics likening it to drinking when pregnant. I think the myth you need to be teetotal adds to appalling breastfeeding rates.

Just wanted to be another one to day that you can absolutely breastfeed and drink. Milk is made from blood and your blood alcohol % would have to be so high that you were hospitalised for it to even have a slight sedative effect on your baby. Go nuts, just make sure you are sober enough to take care of your child!

Thank you! Reading these posts were very reassuring. I had a glass of wine 🍷 first one in about two years Smile I’m not much of a drinker but I enjoy a glass of wine occasionally
