He has been dry for just over a week now, even during his daytime naps, which is excellent

but he will not poo in the potty at all

When dd was potty training she used to wait & poo in her nigt nappy & I would change her before she went to bed. But ds is not like her, he poos at all different times!

He knows to run & pee in the potty but just seems to know after he has had a bowel movement.

Help.. any ideas????

Hey everyone on the Poo - express! I've posted on this before and found that boys are the ones that have a problem. When we go out we take a potty with us. My ds is better when we encourage him to sit on the loo at the same time each day and give him a book or toy and a few mins to 'think' and success seems to come. We reward with sweets or chocolate buttons. We had our first voluntary toilet poo yesterday after 3 months of dry pants but 'dirty' pants. We also bought a 'Twolette' seat off ebay which is a small seat in the top of the lid of the normal adult seat which they can sit on and not fall through. Perservere everyone, lots of praise and try not to rush them, they will do it in their own time.

This will make everyone feel better, but it took my son 4 yrs 3 mths before he would poo in the toilet!

We took the tough approach and got fed up of the manipulation for nappys so binned the nappys for poos and night times.. and within a week he had it sorted! (much to our surprise) guess we had been too concerned about him getting distressed (took him till 3 and a half to crack weeing in the potty or a toilet!) He had a 10 min tantrum initially then accepted it.

Guess it's the way some of them are.. take a bit longer than others, but they get there (eventually!)
