Are bbq fumes safe for newborns to be inhaling?

This might sound really silly, but are they?

My neighbours seem to be doing a bbq very regularly (every day, it seems), and the smell of whatever fumes they use ends up filling my entire house. Very strong and very toxic-smelling. With a newborn, I'm quite concerned as to whether or not it's safe for him to be inhaling this, and on such a regular basis?

I'm made to have my windows constantly shut because of it, which isn't nice in this warmer weather. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the smell fills my entire house - even with most of the windows shut (there's always at least one window that gets forgotten about).

I imagine it's not great for the baby. We have the same problem when our neighbours have a bbq (although no newborn at the moment), they have switched to smokeless coal but it's still not great and often do it when I have laundry hanging out. Could you ask them to at least give you advanced warning if they're having a bbq so you can at least close your windows before the smoke comes in?
