Feel a bit silly... not sure if it’s chicken pox or not... surly it should be obvious?!?

Hi, I have a 2.4 month old son. I noticed yesterday morning manybe 8 red spots-one on face, one on leg, one on back of neck and a few on his tummy. I wondered if it was the start of chicken pox so have been keeping a close eye on him. He hasn’t developed any more since yesterday, he is absolutely fine, running around like normal, eating, sleeping, not scratching, no fever or cold. The spot on his face and the one on his neck seem to have blistered slightly now. I’m really not sure if it is chicken pox or not or whether to send him into nursery tomorrow. Don’t want to make a doctors appointment in case it is pox and he infects anyone else! Surely chicken pox should be obvious...

I had this about ten days ago with DS2. It was chickenpox. I assumed so but then got confused, as when DS1 had it he came out in loads of spots within 24 hours or so. DS2's got far fewer spots overall and they appeared over 4 or 5 days.

If the spots were just in one area and hadn't started to blister, I'd think maybe insect bites. But DS2 wasn't itchy for the first couple of days and didn't seem to be horribly itch after that apart from when he was hot. He's all scabbed over and fine in himself now which is a relief.

Are you able to post a pic of the spots?

Thanks Roomba, I’ll get a pic tonight when I get him changed. How did you know for sure it was chicken pox with your son?
