Has anyone else lost their sense of humour as a parent?

Lately, my patience with my son (3) has been wearing thinner and thinner, my levels of frustration are rising, and it seems I've even lost my once-omnipresent sense of humour. Everything is irritating or some kind of infraction. The constant talking back (he's 3 FFS!!), whining, demanding, refusal to follow any direction, and manic behaviour are whittling away at my will to live!

Please tell me there are some other constantly irritated, humourless parents out there too?? Any words of wisdom if you've overcome this?

Yes, I’m experiencing almost exactly the same thing. It’s so wearing, esp as I thought toddlers were suppose to get easier at 3 years old. Not my one!! I think part of it is my fault though. I’m particularly grumpy at the moment as pregnant so patience is very thin on the ground at the moment. Also the heat doesn’t help. My only tip and it sounds a bit daft is to when they are irritating you, look deep into their eyes. It always reminds me of the little soul behind the annoying behaviour and automatically lifts my mood which means more often than not I can lift my childs. Doesn’t always work plus I often forget but on the occasions it does it has really helped us reconnect. I find my child’s behaviour worst when disconnected from him so this really helps. Good luck!

Me! Chocness advice is great. I love her to the moon, but my God, it's hard work. Also heavily pregnant and hormonal.
