Little boys and their erections! - sounds dodgy, but really isn't!

i was just wondering what age little boys start getting erections.

several of my friends recently were talking about their 3 yr old sons and how they wake up with them. as far as i know (and i am sure i would know) my ds has never had one yet. he is 3.10 and i was just wondering if its one of those developmental things that happens at different ages for everyone or if he has some sort of problem.

Ds has had this since he was quite a young baby - under a year. At this age it is simply a biological response to blood flow, I think - not an erection of the kind that starts in puberty.

greedygreedyguzzler · 14/05/2007 09:13

so i wonder why my ds doesn't ever get them?
he seems to be very well endowed compared to other little boys his age ( not that i make a habit of staring at young boys willys, but we do stay away at friends houses and they all share baths etc), and his willy does get a bit fatter sometimes but he never has an erection.
i hope he hasn't got some sort of problem.................not sure what i would say to the doc!

DS#1 never really had/has (he's 7 1/2 now so dont know, getting shy now) them but DS#2 always has one, and most of the time it's down to him really needing a wee! HTH, see you on the other side LOL

ds is able to give himself an erection andhas been since he was about 2. He likes to stroke it and then then call me to come and look at his big winkle! Hmmmm nice. He has other friends who dnt do this though so not sure what is normal and what isnt tbh.

My DSs get them a lot but my nephew hasnt really yet and he is almost three - nothing to worry about either way IMO.

Chooster · 14/05/2007 09:37

Hi Greedy - my DS does get them and has done since a little baby. He gets them when he needs to go to the toilet but sometimes just randomly. Am sure I told you the story of him standing on his chair in the middle of dinner and pulling his trousers / pants down to show us his big willy . I really dont know whats normal or not. Maybe when you have your baby you could check with the health visitor in passing? I'm sure they should be able to give guidannce on what to expect.

my ds is 3.5 and has never had one. nor is he particularly interested in his willy.
(am I bad for feeling quite relieved about this? )

Kelly1978 · 14/05/2007 12:57

dt2 gets them at night, if I change him while he is still asleep he has one. ds1 didn't as a baby but started as a toddler, gets them when he needs a wee, and I don't think I've ever seen dt1 have one at all! It does vary a lot.

Kelly1978 · 14/05/2007 12:57

I'd be relieved. dt2 thinks it is hilarious to pull his as hard as he can at changing time, jsut to watch us wince!

suzycreamcheese · 14/05/2007 12:58

can remember ds having them as small baby...

mamazon · 14/05/2007 12:59

DS (6) wakes with them but my younger brother (5) seems to have one almost permenantly.

he was once caught after a shower trying to poke it back down because he couldn't do his shorts up.

LittleMouseWithCLogsOn · 14/05/2007 13:00

and dh laughingly from the other side of the room said" cos it feels nice?"

suzywong · 14/05/2007 13:01

ds2, 3.5 gets them occasionally, he can pee through them too which shocked me

ds1, 6, has never had one to my knowledge. He also likes origami.

LittleMouseWithCLogsOn · 14/05/2007 13:02

I took my 5.5 yr old and 13 yr old nephew to fun fair and they went on giant shuggy boat repeatedly, (sorry does everyone else call them that?) I went on once and i felt really sick and refused to go on again. Whilst having lunch they said they wanted ot go on again and would i come on as well and i said no as it gave me an awful feeling in my tummy. 5 yr old replied 'but it gives you a lovely feeling in your willy as well!' I was speechless and turned to my nephew and he said 'actually he;s right it does!'. Now i know why they wanted to go on so often!

Spidermama · 14/05/2007 21:15

Yep. I have three boys. They have them very young. Under a year.
