Hi all,

I am new to mumsnet, having voyeured for some time. I am 17 weeks pregnant with my first baby and am just starting to look into cloth nappies.

However, little did I realise that there was such a HUGE choice. Having trawled various websites (thenappylady, time2change, babykind, kittykins, twinkleontheweb, cuddlebabes etc.) I am none the wiser and change my mind every other day.

So far the front runners are Motherease One Size and Totsbots (I do like the colours!). But do I get a few white/unbleached (for absorbancy), a few Rainbow (for slimmer fit) and some Bamboozle? Size 1 and Size 2, or just Size 2? And why are the Rainbow totsbots being discontinued? And is Aplix better than Nippas, or should I get a few of each? I don't intend to use a dryer, but I do have a ceiling rack - does this mean the drying time will be a problem? So many questions, and only 23 weeks to decide! And I haven't even started the research into a rear-facing pushchair yet!! Sometimes I think the internet does more harm than good....

Please help, my brain hurts.

Thanks
BabyValentine

The knackering is really only a case of the elastic only lasts about 1 1/2 babies rather than 3.

If you use nippas then its not really a prob at all because you can just yank it up higher between the legs.

Hi BV

I'm nowhere near the experts lower down, but just one hint from me. I dried mine on a rack and that worked fine for us.
However, my bf put her rack outside in the sunshine whenever possible, and her nappies stayed much softer and cleaner looking than mine. If you can get some sun on them, it is a natural steriliser too, and kills off all sorts of bugs.

Bamboo will shrink if tumbled too hot though so do it on a low setting. Can withstand up to 60 degrees which is easy to measure when washing but not so easy when tumbling

Oh and Baby I'm in Greater Manchester and would be happy to do a home demo if you are arround that area, but you my be up north of my north

Good point - I actually have no idea how low "low" is on a tumble drier

It's good to know I'm not the only person who is completely fascinated by nappies
