Anyone have a DH 45yrs or older when having another baby?

I want a third. DH says he feels too old. He doesn't seem old at the moment but keeps going on about how old he'll be when the child is 20 etc.

Says he'll be dead by the time it's 25. he's a cheery sort.

Do you reckon this is too old? Anyone else have a DH this old when ttc?

I'm 37 BTW.

I am expecting number 4 atm

Dh was 47 when when his third was born. He has never been mistaken for her grandfather though! He still carries both kids on his back through the park (dd is 2, ds is 5).
He is 50 this year. He seriously doesn't look it. He cycled from SE London to Camden and back without turning a hair. I worry more about my age - I'm 43.

Ah well maybe his curtailment of your fertiliy years has less to do with his age...I thougt you were sad as had none!!

dh was 45 when dd2 (our 3rd) was born 13 months ago. Tbh he wasn't either for or against another one although if i'm honest i'm sure he'd have been quite happy to stay at 2! However we had number 3 (i'm now 38)and quite honestly it's the best thing we ever did as a family - has 'completed' us iykwim - and the age thing doesn't come into it.

glad you started this thread.weve been told not to have any more children or atleast to wait till youngest is at school,dh will be 43 by then.he says thats too old.i disagree.he acts 12.

My DP was 46 when DS1 was born, and 48 when DS2 was born... he says the same thing... I'm to old etc. He also became a grandfather just after ds1 was born by his 17 year old dd. To be honest, he does get realy tired though.

My DH and I have a six month old - he's 53. He's fit, healthy and his mum who is 80 is still going strong.

Age is just a number IMHO.
