Would you leave baby in the car?

I think this will be a controversial one. I read a story recently about a man who almost lost visitation to his child because he left his daughter in the car whilst he ran into the shop. We're not talking a full food shop here, we're talking a corner shop to grab 1 item. Would you do it? Have you done it? Brew

Really? I did it twice today. Car seat takes bloody ages to do- I did full shop with him in sling and then ran into two other shops for one item that I couldn't purchase in the one shop- re-doing car seat three times seems like hard work. What could happen to sleeping 2 month old who is strapped in? Have you got a link to the story?

Hold the fort down. You'll have an up roar of "I would ring 101 and log it"

This has been done to death. On here you'll get "OMG you horror, the car will be stolen/catch fire/be hit by lightening/be sucked up by aliens and even if it isn't people like me will call the cops on you for neglecting your child".

but out in the real world most people do it, its fine, and no-one cares.

Surely people do it when they are buying petrol? (We don't have any pay at pump petrol stations near me).

I especially like the ones where people will tell you they take 7 children under the age of 6 out the car to pay for petroleum, because it’s disgusting leaving them in the car and unsafe......... this is a personal thing. If the ship is close, and in full view, and genuinely a nip in, and not too hot in the car (assuming UK so unlikely) I don’t have an issue. We have a hidey blanket for this situation. I throw it over the car seat (and child) and tell her not to move for a minute 😂 very judgey here (AUS) about kids in cars. And I’ve NEVER done it when it’s stiknung hot, or the car isn’t parked directly outside the shop.

I've left my baby in the car while I paid for petrol. 🤭

I wouldn't. I witnessed this car fire yesterday in my local supermarket. I know events like this are rare but they do happen.

I have twins and would not leave them alone in the car whilst I went shopping. Not even if it was just a newspaper!
