Baby showers/gender reveals prices

How much on average did it cost you to host a baby shower and a gender reveal party?

To try and simplify the negativity towards gender reveals, I think the thing is parents to be can just tell people as it will still be a surprise; all the excess show and balloons / cake to do so is just another “look at me/us” that society has become consumed with.

OP baby showers make more sense in the US where maternity pay and leave are practically non-existent. It's a way for the mother to obtain useful things for the baby.

Set a budget for your mother and let her crack on with it, if you like the idea of them.
