Would you leave a 12 year old alone for 2-3 hours at night?

A friend of mine is in a dilemma as to whether she should leave her 12 year old alone at home for 2-3 hours between 11pm and 1am ish whilst she goes out to collect her daughter who is returning from a school trip. I think this is fine but DF is concerned about leaving her DS home alone. Am I too lax???

I would, I’d let them know the night before in case they wake and I’d leave a note too. They’ll be fine.

depends on the child
I wouldn't with my son , may have with my daughter.
I would probably take the child and save all the angst about it.

Agreed depends on the child.

I think it’s fine, but I suppose it depends on the child. It was a different time but when I was 12 my (single) mum used to go away on business trips for 3-4 days and leave me home. I walked to school, cooked my own meals, did the shopping, etc. I think probably it would come down to if her 12 year old was comfortable with it or if she’d prefer to come with her or stay with a friend that night.

I would talk it through with the child & if confident yes I would.

Let child have contact details but my dd, who is twelve, would probably be asleep anyway & needs a lot if noise to wake her 😉

I would if the 12 year old was comfortable with it.
