what rountine do you have for your baby at 3.5 months??

wanted to find out what routine you all have for your little ones of a similar age. how much should they sleep. my 2nd boy hardly sleeps at all during the day . he keeps putting hands in his mouth is he teething? i try to feed him b/f but he just gets really fidgety. how long did you all keep your baby in your room ?

any advice would be great.

My DS is now 5 mths, and has been on a fairly regular routine since 2/3 months ( not possible with all babies I know) It's not set in stone, but we follow the basic principle that he needs a sleep after 2 hours of awake time - he decides how long, but normally about 3/4 of an hour. He feeds every 3 hours, so the 2 hrs awake, 3 hourly feeds forms the basis of our routineuntil he goes to bed at 7 pm.

If he sleeps well at night and is happy in the day then I don't think it matters that he doesn't sleep much - it obv. suits him, but if he's grumpy or hard to settle maybe he could do with more sleep.

MY DS chews his hands all the time too - don't think he's necessarily teething, just doing it 'cos he can!!

Moved him out of our room as he took to 'chatting' loudly after feeding at about 5 am, which got a bit boring.......

much older now but some thoughts

dd1 had first tooth at 4mths, so could be. it could also be that he's got a bit more control over his body and just found his mouth.

dd1 used to sleep loads but didn't sleep for more than 2hrs stretchs at night

dd2 had two 2hr naps in the day at this stage in between dd1 activities and then slept all night.

both dds were in there own rooms at 8weeks but i wasn't bfing then and dh seemed to thing my snoring disturbed them. tbh they both settled better in their own rooms.

My ds is nearly 4 and we still havent managed a routine ...

we don't really have much of a routine in the daytime, he usually catnaps between 8:30am-midday then is awake till 4, has another little sleep, then i have quite a rigid routine of bath at 7pm ish, feed, then bed. it's all gone to shit tonight though, not sure why but he's only just gone down.

possibly silly question, but were you the MNer asking about post natal groups in Northampton? how did you get on?

yes thats me! I go to group at park methodist church on thursdays with some friends which is nice. haven't tried weston favell parish hall yet. you have a good memory.

if you are bf-ing then the baby cafe is really good and friendly! they've moved at the moment to near Sol Central (Gt Doddington church) but still at same time.

also, if your ds is 3.5 months he must be similar age to mine (15 weeks).....come on the Jan Postnatal thread, we are all very friendly (if a bit talkative!)

DS now 12.5 wks and has a reasonably set bedtime routine of 7 feed, 8 bath, more feed, asleep by 9, and for a fortnight he went from 9 till around 5.30 but the last few nights he's started waking again to b/f at 2 or 3 for an hour, maybe he's growing or maybe its cos he has a cold and can't eat enough at one sitting.
He loves to try and fit his whole fist in his mouth at once - I thought he was trying to suck his thumb but he doesn't seem to have the coordination!
Hes very wet chinned and blows loads of bubbles so I hope he's not teething.
Daytime routine sounds like yours Jojay- awake for a couple of hours then needs to recharge his batteries, hes sleepier in the morning and tries to stay awake longer in the afternoon

My baby is 14 weeks and we don't have a rountine. He eats his fists now too but that's a developmental stage and doesn't always signify hunger. We co-sleep and breastfeed on demand. He doesn't sleep a lot during the day and wakes a lot at night but is happy and contented, I'm not feeling too bad either

My 3.5 DS generally feeds every 3 hours, sleeps within this time but if he doesnt I give him a feed after 2.5hours which send him off to sleep. We are up at for 12 hours from when he first wakes up 7-8am.....as above during the day then bath before he gets too fractious (6.30pm approx) then feed then sleep and I give him another feed at 11pm.

He is teething and I use the Calpol gel stuff which soothes his gums a bit. I am not too fussed about a strict daytime routine but he is fairly easy-going and doesnt complain too much. As long as he has one big-ish (2 hours) sleep during the day he is fine. No apparant growth spurts as yet.
