Will my child get less maintenance if my ex has another baby?

Soo, I have a 6yo DS with my ex. I receive £40 week for our son from him. My ex is having a baby with his new girlfriend. Will our son receive less? I don't rely on it as such but it's handy. My ex only has our son for an hour or two a week (his choice) so I believe £40 is a fair amount but will my sons payment go down?

If your ex is bringing home £350 pre tax a week in your current payment should be £42 a week. This is assuming no benefits of any kind being claimed by him.

This would drop to £37 a week when he had the new baby.

£350 a week translates to £18200 a year so is relatively low compared to average wage but you know his circumstances more than me.

It makes absolutely no sense to me. I'm having another baby. I'm doing it because I can afford to. I don't get a discount and not need to care for my first once the new baby is here. It seems incredibly unfair to the existing children and an easy way out to me, but that seems to be the way the system works.

Thanks to you both. I currently get £40 a week with the csa. At the moment he could afford to give me more (not that I have asked for more!). He lives cheaply, in a caravan paying around £30 a week for everything (the caravan, water, electric, has, council tax etc). other than his food and car bills. I assume they will find a proper home now she's having a baby (he's been living in a caravan for around 5 years).

Yes but only by a small amount so for example if someone is paying £300 a month it goes down by amount £10 so I wouldn’t expect yours to go down massively.
