DD is 11, catching the bus to high school, 45 min on the bus, what age did you start letting them go into town on a Saturday with friends.. DD is very good with texting me, first week she would text me telling me she was on the bus and when she got off, the other day bus broke down and was texting me updates.. This growing up lark is bloody scary lol

Aged nearly 11 - she was in Y6, 'town' was Lewisham.
Aged 11 - into Greenwich by herself.
Aged 12 - into zone 1 station and catching buses across London by herself.

14 to Brighton. DD and DS went to London at 16 with friends, DD more often.
I did spend some time going to Brighton with them and splitting up, then meeting up a couple of hours later before they went freerange.
